Redesigning search for a real-estate startup
I joined Realo before the product had even launched. This case study covers how I redesigned the property search experience to be faster, more intuitive and location-driven.

About
I worked as a Product Designer at Realo from Dec 2014 to Jan 2017. This particular project ran for about 2 months at the end of 2016.
My responsibilities
- UX & UI design
- Prototyping & testing
- Visual Design
Tools
- Sketch
About the product
Realo is an online real estate marketplace that helps people buy or rent properties through relevant listings enriched with local data and social content.
During my time there I worked on a cross-platform design system, a flow for listing your property for sale or rent and a completely new search experience for finding your next home.
Goals
Together with the VP of Product, I analysed usage data, ran user interviews and studied competitors. That research pointed to four clear goals:
- Improve the overall search experience
- Make results more location-driven
- Fix filtering so it works for all our audiences
- Solve usability issues on mobile and tablet
Process
